Madison Life Assurance Kenya Limited, a subsidiary of Madison Group Limited, is a well-known provider of life assurance, group schemes and pension administration in Kenya.  The Group also provides through two other subsidiaries, general insurance underwriting as well as fund management services.

The Company is recruiting for the position of Deputy Manager – Business Development reporting to the Head of Pension Administration. The job holder will be based at its Head Office in Madison House, Nairobi.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement business development strategies to achieve departmental and company growth objectives.
  2. Identify and evaluate new business opportunities and potential clients within the retirement benefits sector.
  3. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  4. Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, competitive landscape, and opportunities for growth.
  5. Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals, and pitches to prospective clients and partners.
  6. Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute marketing campaigns and promotional activities.
  7. Negotiate and close business deals, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the company.
  8. Monitor and report on the performance of business development initiatives and provide regular updates to senior management.
  9. Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking activities to promote the company’s services and expand its network.
  10. Provide training and support to junior business development staff and other team members.

Qualifications and Core Competencies

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field.
  2. Professional qualifications in retirement benefits arrangements, sales, marketing, or business development (e.g., FSRI, CPAM, CIM, CPSP) are an added advantage.
  3. Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
  4. Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
  5. Strong understanding of the insurance and retirement benefits sector in Kenya.
  6. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  8. Strategic thinking and ability to identify and capitalize on business opportunities.
  9. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships.
  10. High level of motivation and a results-oriented mindset.
  11. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  12. High level of integrity and ethical standards.
